Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the bulk water utility in Pretoria East needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work, day to day

Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Write design reports and handover documents

Must-haves

Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
