Civil Labourer (Road Works)

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a road rehabilitation project in Johannesburg CBD. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The site is in Johannesburg CBD; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes

• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Grade 8 or higher
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites

• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant

• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
