Civil Labourer (Road Works)

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a school building project in Klerksdorp can keep building. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Location: Klerksdorp, North West. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks

• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan

• A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Previous site work you can show with a reference

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant

• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
