Receiving Clerk Assistant (Goods Inwards)

Trucks come in heavy and leave loaded at this furniture retailer warehouse in Brits, and you move the stock in between. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a furniture retailer warehouse on the Brits side of North West. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop

• Friendly with customers at the door
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
• No criminal record

• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
• Basic furniture assembly skills
• Past work as a driver's assistant

• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
