Job Description

Hard outdoor work on a low-cost housing development in Roodepoort, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a low-cost housing development on the Roodepoort side of Gauteng.

The work, day to day

Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Clear rubble and load it into skips

What you need

You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Grade 8 or higher

Nice if you have

Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
