Clinic Cleaner (Day Shift) – Entry Level

You'll keep a community health clinic in Krugersdorp safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Krugersdorp, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit

• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty

• An infection prevention and control short course
• Knowledge of healthcare waste handling rules

• Meal on shift at the staff canteen
• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
• Medical aid option through the employer
