Coach Driver (Tours and Charters)

You'll carry passengers safely around Pinetown for a school transport operator, on time and by the timetable. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Pinetown-based, with most of your time spent at a school transport operator. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Write the trip log with times, kilometres and fuel
• Handle breakdowns calmly and keep passengers safe until help arrives
• Check passenger tickets, tags or staff cards when boarding
• Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
• Follow speed limits strictly; buses are tracked
• Drive fixed routes and keep to the timetable

• Clean driving and criminal record
• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 licence
• Punctual for very early starts
• Valid PrDP for passengers (P)
• Patient and friendly with passengers
• At least 3 years of bus or taxi driving

• Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
• Company uniform
• Paid passenger PrDP renewal

• Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
• Mention the number of passengers you have driven and the vehicle type, like "65-seater" or "22-seater midibus".
