Coach Driver (Tours and Charters)

Steady shift work with a school transport operator in Soweto for drivers with a passenger PrDP. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at a school transport operator. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Drive fixed routes and keep to the timetable
• Handle breakdowns calmly and keep passengers safe until help arrives
• Follow speed limits strictly; buses are tracked
• Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters
• Count passengers and make sure nobody stands beyond the limit

• Medically fit
• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 licence
• Clean driving and criminal record
• Valid PrDP for passengers (P)

• Tour coach experience with charters
• First-aid certificate
• Experience on mine or staff transport routes

• Paid passenger PrDP renewal
• Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
• Company uniform

• Talk about safety records in the interview. Bus companies want to hear about zero accidents and on-time runs.
• Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
