Code 14 Car Carrier Driver

You'll move heavy loads between Hammarsdale and depots across the country for a cold-chain logistics fleet. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

• Passport for cross-border routes
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Dangerous goods training certificate
• Defensive driving course

• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Paid PrDP renewal
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
