Code 14 Car Carrier Driver

The road is your office with a coal haulage contractor based in Tzaneen, and the load gets there because of you. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Tzaneen (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• Clean criminal record
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Passport for cross-border routes

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
• Defensive driving course

• Paid PrDP renewal
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Provident fund and medical aid option

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
