Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a long-haul freight fleet in Harrismith is hiring. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Harrismith (Free State). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

What you need

Clean criminal record
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
Passport for cross-border routes
Medically fit, including eyesight
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence

Helpful, not essential

Dangerous goods training certificate
Defensive driving course
Clean record on a telematics driving score
