Code 14 Driver (Regional Night Runs) – Immediate Start

You'll move heavy loads between Newcastle and depots across the country for a coal haulage contractor. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a coal haulage contractor on the Newcastle side of KwaZulu-Natal.

• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• Passport for cross-border routes
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Clean criminal record
• Medically fit, including eyesight

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Dangerous goods training certificate

• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Paid PrDP renewal
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus

• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
