Code 14 Flatdeck Driver (Steel Loads) – Permanent

You'll move heavy loads between Hammarsdale and depots across the country for a coal haulage contractor. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Hammarsdale (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Clean criminal record

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Defensive driving course

• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Paid PrDP renewal
• Provident fund and medical aid option

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
