Job Description

You'll move heavy loads between George and depots across the country for a cross-border transport company. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Location: George, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

What you'll actually do

  • Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
  • Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
  • Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
  • Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
  • Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
  • Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads

Must-haves

  • Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
  • At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
  • Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
  • Clean criminal record
  • Passport for cross-border routes

Extra points for

  • Defensive driving course
  • Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
  • Dangerous goods training certificate

On offer

  • Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
  • Provident fund and medical aid option
  • Paid PrDP renewal
  • Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in George really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: Code 14 licence card and PrDP (both sides copied) plus reference letters from previous transport companies.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around George.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
  • Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
