Code 14 Side Tipper Driver (Coal Haulage)

The road is your office with a long-haul freight fleet based in Montague Gardens, and the load gets there because of you. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Montague Gardens, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• Passport for cross-border routes

• Dangerous goods training certificate
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Paid PrDP renewal

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
