Code 14 Tautliner Driver (Long Distance)

The road is your office with a cross-border transport company based in Hammarsdale, and the load gets there because of you. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Hammarsdale. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads

• Medically fit, including eyesight
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
• Defensive driving course

• Paid PrDP renewal
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
