Job Description

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a distribution depot in Durban Central, that could be you. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Location: Durban Central, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
Update customers on delivery times and delays
Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system

You'll need

Good with Excel and email
Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
Calm and decisive when things go wrong
Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
Matric
Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

Nice if you have

Logistics or supply chain certificate
Previous truck driving experience
Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
