Code 14 Tautliner Driver (Long Distance) – Experienced

The road is your office with a coal haulage contractor based in Kariega, and the load gets there because of you. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a coal haulage contractor on the Kariega side of Eastern Cape.

• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Clean criminal record

• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Defensive driving course
• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)

• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Paid PrDP renewal

• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
