Code 8 Courier Driver (Panel Van)

A clean Code 8 licence and good street sense will get you started at an engineering firm in George. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is George-based, with most of your time spent at an engineering firm. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep your vehicle or bike clean and report faults
• Collect spares and parts from suppliers and bring them to the workshop
• Deliver chronic medication to patients' homes and confirm ID
• Load parcels in route order from the depot scanning area
• Fill up the vehicle and keep fuel slips for the logbook
• Follow the delivery app for route and stop order

• Good sense of direction and map reading
• Valid Code 8 (B) licence, or A licence for motorbike roles
• Smartphone and comfortable using delivery apps
• Able to work Saturdays

• Your own reliable bakkie or bike for owner-driver contracts
• Knowledge of the city's industrial areas
• Previous courier or last-mile experience

• Fuel card for work trips
• Company van, bakkie or scooter provided
• Per-drop incentive on busy days

• If you have a clean driving record, write "no accidents, no traffic fines" plainly. It is what recruiters look for.
• For owner-driver jobs, list your vehicle's make, year and load size. They hire the vehicle as much as the driver.
