Coded Welder (Pressure Vessels)

Strong welding and plate work for the pressure vessel manufacturer in Komani, with real drawings and real tolerances. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Komani. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Cut and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, plasma and a bevelling machine
• Prepare joints for radiographic and dye penetrant testing
• Follow the welding procedure specification for every joint you weld
• Fit up beams, columns and bracing with the correct gaps and alignment
• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs
• Weld carbon steel pipe in the 6G position using GTAW root and SMAW fill

• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
• You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help

• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns
• Coding renewals paid by the employer

• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
• Expect a practical welding test on the first day. Bring your own gloves and chipping hammer so you feel at home.
