Job Description

Hit your collection targets at this municipal accounts office in Midrand and your commission shows it. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a municipal accounts office in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.

Must-haves

At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
Clear credit and criminal record
You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations

Nice if you have

Legal collections or attorney-firm background
Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules

On offer

Monthly incentives for the top three collectors
Structured weekday hours with only occasional Saturdays
Uncapped monthly commission on collected rands
