Job Description

This vehicle finance collections floor in Richards Bay needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a vehicle finance collections floor on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.

You'll need

You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
Matric
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations

Helpful, not essential

A second South African language
Legal collections or attorney-firm background
