Job Description

Service is busy at this casual dining restaurant in Mossel Bay, so steady hands and a tidy station matter here. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Mossel Bay. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

Label, date and rotate stock using first-in, first-out.
Clean down your section, deep-clean the fryer and scrub the extractor filters.
Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
Log fridge and freezer temperatures twice a shift on the HACCP sheet.
Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
Train the kitchen assistants on knife safety and prep standards.

Must-haves

1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen
Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
You know food safety basics under R638 and HACCP
A culinary certificate or City & Guilds, or solid on-the-job experience
Comfortable in heat, on your feet, for long split shifts
Good knife skills and you can prep at speed

Extra points for

Pastry or bakery training
Stock and ordering experience on a system such as Micros or Pilot
