Job Description

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the electrical consulting engineering firm in Alberton. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is an electrical consulting engineering firm on the Alberton side of Gauteng.

What you'll actually do

Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works

What you need

Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package

Helpful, not essential

Protection or HV operating authorisation
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
