Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The electrical consulting engineering firm in Midrand needs you to make it so. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at an electrical consulting engineering firm in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

You'll need

At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

Nice if you have

Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
PLC programming certification
Protection or HV operating authorisation
