Cost Accountant (Food Processing Plant)

An agricultural co-operative in Alberton needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Alberton-based, with most of your time spent at an agricultural co-operative.

• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear old reconciling items
• Run cash flow forecasts and manage the weekly payment run
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads

• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
