Cost Accountant (Food Processing Plant)

A mid-sized manufacturing group in Atlantis needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Atlantis, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Run cash flow forecasts and manage the weekly payment run
• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads
• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances

• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
