Creche Assistant (Baby Room)

You'll care for and teach young children at a Montessori pre-school in Gqeberha, from nappies to first letters. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Gqeberha (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
• Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
• Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
• Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
• Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe

• Matric
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• Warm, patient and energetic with small children
• Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer

• Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
• Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach

• Reduced fees for your own child

• Sponsored ECD Level 5 studies
• Short holiday closures over December and Easter

• Add one sentence about an activity you ran that the children loved; it shows you can plan, not just supervise.
• Apply for the Form 30 check early, as it can take weeks and many creches won't appoint without it.
