Job Description

Questions come to you at a telecoms provider in Sandton, and you answer them with data. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Sandton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

Build ETL pipelines in SSIS, Azure Data Factory or Python
Build simple forecasting and segmentation models in Python or R
Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models
Mask or remove personal information in data sets under POPIA
Write SQL to pull, join and clean data from several sources
Check data quality and trace odd numbers back to the source
Keep a data dictionary so everyone uses the same definitions

You'll need

Advanced Excel
Strong SQL, including joins, window functions and CTEs
Degree in statistics, maths, computer science, economics or a related field
Hands-on Power BI, Tableau or a similar tool
Able to explain what the numbers mean, not just show them

Extra points for

Microsoft PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst certification
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or Fabric

What you get

Hybrid work with two office days
Latest laptop with extra screen
Annual bonus tied to company performance

Applying, step by step

Make sure the role, the hours and working in Sandton really suit you before you apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): academic record showing statistics or maths modules plus screenshots or a link to a dashboard you built, with real data removed.
Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 9 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Sandton.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

Build one public portfolio dashboard on a South African open data set if you have no work samples to share.
Put SQL and your BI tool in the first line of your CV; these are the keywords every data recruiter searches.
