Debt Collector (Legal Book) – Fixed-Term

Collections at a vehicle finance collections floor in Centurion is about firm, fair conversations and steady numbers. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Centurion-based, with most of your time spent at a vehicle finance collections floor. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
• Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and set up DebiCheck mandates.
• Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
• Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
• Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
• Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.

• Matric
• Target-driven and comfortable with commission
• Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
• Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations
• At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre
• You keep your tone respectful even when the debtor is not

• Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules
• Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
• A second South African language

• Structured weekday hours with only occasional Saturdays
• Uncapped monthly commission on collected rands
• Council for Debt Collectors registration paid for you

• If you are already registered with the Council for Debt Collectors, put your registration number near the top of your CV.
• Show your collection results as numbers (for example "collected R420 000 a month against a R350 000 target").
