Job Description

You'll run your own files from instruction to judgment at a financial services company legal department in Alberton. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Alberton. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

Manage a portfolio of litigation or advisory matters on your own
Advise clients on risk, settlement and next steps in plain language
Record billable time and hit the monthly target
Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
Track legislation changes that affect clients' businesses

You'll need

At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
Enrolled with the Legal Practice Council and holding a current Fidelity Fund certificate if you handle trust money
Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
Strong drafting and legal research
Sound judgement under deadline pressure

Extra points for

Certificate in data protection or compliance
Notarial admission
LLM or postgraduate certificate in your specialist area
