Job Description

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a container unpacking yard in Upington wants. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Upington-based, with most of your time spent at a container unpacking yard. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit

You'll need

Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
No criminal record
Willing to travel on routes that return late
Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
Friendly with customers at the door
