Desktop Support Technician (Second Line)

You'll be the person who fixes it when laptops, printers and logins break at a corporate head office in Germiston. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The site is in Germiston; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Reset passwords and unlock accounts in Active Directory and Entra ID
• Replace faulty hardware and log warranty claims with suppliers
• Log, prioritise and update tickets on the service desk system
• Escalate network and server faults to second or third line with good notes
• Keep the asset register up to date when equipment moves
• Image, set up and hand over new laptops and desktops
• Write short how-to guides for common user problems

• Patient and friendly with non-technical users
• Basic networking: IP addresses, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi
• Matric plus an IT qualification, such as CompTIA A+ or an IT diploma
• Code B driver's licence and own car for field posts
• Able to log clear, complete ticket notes
• At least 1 year of help desk or desktop support (not needed for intern posts)

• ITIL Foundation
• Experience with Intune or SCCM for device management

• Travel allowance for field technicians
• Paid certification exams after probation
• Standby pay for after-hours cover

• Describe the size of the environment you supported, such as "400 users across 6 branches".
• Be ready for a practical test on a real laptop or a phone troubleshooting role-play.
