Dispatch Controller (Distribution Depot)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in Brackenfell. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a distribution depot on the Brackenfell side of Western Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system

• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Matric
• Good with Excel and email

• Transport management system (TMS) experience
• Logistics or supply chain certificate

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Office-based work with a steady roster

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
