Job Description

Get off the road and into the control office at a bus and coach operator in Durban Central. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a bus and coach operator.

The work, day to day

Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
Update customers on delivery times and delays
Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries

Must-haves

Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
Good with Excel and email
At least 2 years in transport or logistics
Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
Calm and decisive when things go wrong

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of cross-border documentation
Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
