Dispatch Controller (Distribution Depot)

You'll plan the loads and watch the trucks for a distribution depot in Mamelodi, keeping every trip on time. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a distribution depot in Mamelodi. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries

• Good with Excel and email
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Matric
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
