Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week) – Permanent

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a family home in Epping. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a family home in Epping. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week

• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• South African ID or valid work permit

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
