Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a large estate home in Paarl. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Paarl-based, with most of your time spent at a large estate home. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation

• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Good with children and patient

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Transport money for live-out staff
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
