Domestic Worker with Elderly Care – Fixed-Term

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a townhouse in a security complex in George. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in George; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards

• South African ID or valid work permit
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised

• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Experience caring for an older person
• A driver's licence for school lifts

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Transport money for live-out staff

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
