Domestic Worker with Elderly Care – Fixed-Term

You'll keep a retired couple's cottage in Isando clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Isando, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer

• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Cooking experience with family meals
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
