Drill Rig Operator (Surface Blast Holes) – Permanent

You'll operate heavy mining machines on shift at the open-pit manganese mine near Kathu. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll report in Kathu. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine

• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner

• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Certificates on two or more machine types

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
• If you live near the mine, say so. Local applicants are often preferred under the Social and Labour Plan.
