LHD Operator (Underground Scoop) – Experienced

You'll operate heavy mining machines on shift at the underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near Kathu. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at an underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery in Kathu. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Respect the collision avoidance system warnings and park-up rules

• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner

• Certificates on two or more machine types
• Fatigue management or defensive driving training

• Company bus from nearby towns to the mine gate
• Shift allowance for night and weekend shifts
• Medical aid subsidy
• Annual performance bonus

• Name the exact machine class and size you operated, like "100-ton rigid dump truck". Mines hire by machine.
• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
