Driver's Assistant (Parcel Routes)

Delivery days start early in Sandton, and a parcel sorting hub needs you on the bay before the trucks roll. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a parcel sorting hub in Sandton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop

• No criminal record
• Friendly with customers at the door
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day

• Past work as a driver's assistant
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
• Basic furniture assembly skills

• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
