Driver's Assistant (Parcel Routes)

You'll load and offload trucks at a container unpacking yard in Soweto so every delivery goes out full and correct. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a container unpacking yard in Soweto. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count

• Friendly with customers at the door
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts

• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Meal allowance on long-route days
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Help to get your own licence through the company later

• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
