ECD Practitioner (Toddler Class)

You'll care for and teach young children at a workplace day care centre in Bloemfontein, from nappies to first letters. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Bloemfontein. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
• Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
• Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
• Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
• Run morning ring with songs, weather and counting
• Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
• Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal

• ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
• Matric
• Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• Paediatric first aid certificate
• Warm, patient and energetic with small children

• Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
• Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
• Experience with children with special needs

• Add one sentence about an activity you ran that the children loved; it shows you can plan, not just supervise.
• Apply for the Form 30 check early, as it can take weeks and many creches won't appoint without it.
