Electrical Artisan (Trade Tested)

This is hands-on electrical work in Mthatha: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The work is in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment

• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces

• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation

• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
