Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The water treatment utility in Brackenfell needs you to make it so. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

The work is in Brackenfell, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What your day looks like

Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

Must-haves

BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites

Extra points for

Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Protection or HV operating authorisation
