CNC Machinist (Lathe & Milling) – Fixed-Term

Planned maintenance and breakdown work on shift at the general engineering workshop in Paarl. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll report in Paarl. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change

• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects

• Millwright trade test, since it covers both mechanical and electrical
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses

• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Tool allowance

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
