Civil Engineering Technologist (Roads) – Permanent

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the structural design practice in Bellville. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Bellville; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
• Write design reports and handover documents
• Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
• Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162

• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
• Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision

• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
• Contract management training for NEC or GCC
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
