Job Description

The electrical consulting engineering firm in Cape Town CBD needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at an electrical consulting engineering firm in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works

You'll need

Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

Helpful, not essential

Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
PLC programming certification
